The Gulf of Oman continues to witness escalations on Saturday as the United States Central Command (Centcom) confirmed that the Iranian crude oil tanker MT Kylo sank after being struck by American forces.
The sinking of the Kylo, alongside the disabling of two sister tankers, the Downy and Stark 1 by US forces, has reignited a debate over maritime security, energy supply chains, and the broader geopolitical chessboard that defines the Persian Gulf region.
In a statement published on X, US Centcom confirmed the strike and the sinking of M/T Kylo.
Thanks to the precision and professionalism of American service members, the M/T Kylo sank in the Gulf of Oman today and joined Iran’s navy at the bottom of the sea. pic.twitter.com/OwSDMl8SSQ
